The Need
High levels of expertise are needed to optimize the decisions that are made in Planning for, Responding to and Mitigating the affects of all hazard disasters.
CURRENT CRISIS: Haiti Earthquake
Many Waters Disaster Response provides that expertise in the following areas:
- Public Works Engineering
- Water and Sanitation
- Chemical, Biological and Hazardous Materials
- Telecommunications
- Structural Engineers
- Environmental Engineers
- Transportation Engineers
- Construction Managers
- GIS Mapping Specialists
Our Mission
We match needs at the local level to expertise held by our volunteers nationwide. This creates a resource network of "On-call" engineering professionals for enhancing municipal emergency preparedness.
Many Waters Disaster Response is able to equip and strengthen many more of the nation’s disaster response resources especially at the small community level for non-federally declared emergency situations.
We have relationships with a number of other response organizations and facilitate our volunteers to associate with their organizations based on their specific expertise and interests.
Our Method
We host at least 3 separate disaster response exercise events per year scenarios designed specifically around FEMA’s template.
We send volunteer engineers to their respective State Emergency Management Departments Training Courses and track the credentials they receive in our databases.
We provide information and access to FEMA’s online certification courses and track their credentials as they complete each training module.
